Target Information
Synaptogyrins are a family of tyrosine-phosphorylated membrane proteins, including neuronal members SYNGR1 and SYNGR3, and a ubiquitous member SYNGR2. SYNGR1 and SYNGR3 are synaptic vesicle proteins involved in neurotransmitter release regulation. SYNGR2 is absent from synaptic vesicles. SYNGR4’s role and localization remain unclear. The SYNGR1 gene is located at chromosome 22q13, a region associated with schizophrenia, although evidence of direct involvement is mixed.
