Target Information
GTP-binding proteins are GTPases that function as molecular switches, alternating between active (GTP-bound) and inactive (GDP-bound) states. When a ligand binds to a G-protein-linked receptor, the receptor activates trimeric G proteins by exchanging GDP for GTP. The active G protein then transmits signals to downstream targets until GTP is hydrolyzed back to GDP.
