Product Specific Information

  • A 1:100 dilution of MA5-45736 detects GABA-A R, Alpha4 in 20 µg of mouse brain lysate by ECL immunoblot using Goat anti-mouse IgG:HRP as the secondary antibody.
  • Detects approximately 60 kDa.
  • Does not cross-react with other GABA-A receptor alpha subunits.
  • This antibody was formerly sold as clone S398A-34.

Target Information

Gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) is the major inhibitory neurotransmitter in the mammalian brain, acting at GABA-A receptors, which are ligand-gated chloride channels. Chloride conductance of these channels can be modulated by agents such as benzodiazepines.
At least 16 distinct subunits of GABA-A receptors have been identified. The GABRA4 gene encodes subunit alpha-4, implicated in the etiology of autism and may increase autism risk through interaction with the GABA-A receptor beta-1 subunit. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
