Target Information
ArfGAP1 is a 406 amino acid regulatory protein with an Arf-GAP domain involved in activation of the GTPase activity of ADP ribosylation factor (ARF).
ArfGAP1, a GTPase-activating protein (GAP) for ARF1, promotes hydrolysis of ARF1-bound GTP and is required for dissociation of coat proteins from Golgi-derived membranes and vesicles, playing an important role in membrane trafficking and vesicle transport.
The activity of this protein is stimulated by phosphoinositides and inhibited by phosphatidylcholine. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been reported, and ArfGAP1 is ubiquitously expressed in most tissues.
