MINK1은 germinal center kinase (GCK) 계열에 속하는 serine/threonine kinase로, NIK 관련 kinase와 구조적으로 유사합니다. 이 단백질은 GCK 계열 내의 NIK 관련 kinase 하위군에 속할 수 있습니다. 생쥐 상동체 연구에서, 출생 후 뇌 발달 과정 중 발현이 증가하며 c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK) 및 p38 경로의 활성화와 관련이 있음이 보고되었습니다.
