The NDUFB4 gene encodes a subunit of mitochondrial complex I (NADH:ubiquinone oxidoreductase).
Complex I is composed of 45 subunits and plays a key role in electron transfer from NADH to the respiratory chain.
The immediate electron acceptor for this enzyme is ubiquinone.
