Target Information
Lysyl oxidase (LOX) is a copper-containing amine oxidase that oxidizes primary amine substrates to reactive aldehydes. It plays a crucial role in extracellular matrix formation and repair. LOX also has diverse biological functions, including developmental regulation, tumor suppression, cell motility, and cellular senescence. The secreted form of LOX contributes to the invasive properties of hypoxic human cancer cells and is essential for hypoxia-induced metastasis, making it a valuable therapeutic target for preventing and treating metastases.
