Product Specific Information

Store vial at -20°C prior to opening. Aliquot contents and freeze at -20°C or below for extended storage. Avoid cycles of freezing and thawing. Centrifuge product if not completely clear after standing at room temperature. This product is stable for several weeks at 4°C as an undiluted liquid. Dilute only prior to immediate use.

This antibody is specific for mouse EBI3 protein. A BLAST analysis was used to suggest cross-reactivity with EBI3 from mouse sources based on 100% homology with the immunizing sequence. Cross-reactivity with EBI3 from other species has not been determined.

Target Information

EBI3 (Epstein-Barr virus Induced-3) is a secreted glycoprotein of the hematopoietin receptor family. It plays a regulatory role in Th2-type immune responses and Th2-mediated tissue inflammation in vivo, possibly through control of iNKT cell function. EBI3 dimerizes with p28 and p35 subunits of IL-12 to form IL-27 and IL-35, respectively. IL-27 is produced by activated antigen-presenting cells upon TLR ligation and negatively regulates Th17 cell differentiation.
EBI3 expression in dendritic cells is regulated by TLR signaling via MyD88 and NF-κB during innate immune responses. It inhibits delayed-type hypersensitivity by suppressing IL-17 production and inducing IL-10 hyperproduction. EBI3 may also contribute to tumor metastasis regulation via lung CD8+ T cells. Targeted deletion of EBI3 protects mice from lung metastasis and reduces Th2 cytokine production associated with allergic airway inflammation in asthma.
