Product Specific Information

  • Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
  • Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA (pH 9.0) for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.

Target Information

ALDH1A1 belongs to the aldehyde dehydrogenase family of proteins. Aldehyde dehydrogenase is the second enzyme of the major oxidative pathway of alcohol metabolism. Two major liver isoforms—cytosolic and mitochondrial—can be distinguished by electrophoretic mobility, kinetic properties, and subcellular localization. Most Caucasians have both isoforms, while approximately 50% of Orientals have only the cytosolic isoform, lacking the mitochondrial isozyme. This difference may be related to the higher incidence of acute alcohol intoxication among Orientals.
