Target Information
The four known 15–19 kDa INK4 proteins (p15INK4b, p16INK4a, p18INK4c, and p19INK4d) bind and inhibit CDK4 and CDK6, but not other CDKs such as cyclin E-Cdk2, cyclin A-Cdk2, or cyclin B-Cdk1.
These INK4 proteins are expressed in distinct tissue-specific patterns, indicating non-redundant functions. p18INK4c, in particular, is expressed during the G1 to S transition of the eukaryotic cell cycle and is maximally induced as cells enter S-phase.
