Estrogen Receptors (ER)은 steroid/thyroid hormone receptor superfamily에 속하는 핵 수용체로, estrogen 결합 시 전사 활성화를 유도하는 전사인자입니다.
ER은 estrogen response elements (ERE)에 결합하여 유전자 발현을 양성 또는 음성으로 조절하며, coactivator 또는 corepressor 단백질을 모집합니다.
ER에는 alpha(ESR1)와 beta(ESR2)의 두 가지 주요 형태가 있으며, ER-alpha는 최소 4가지 isoform(66, 53, 47, 35 kDa)으로 존재합니다.
