Target Information

Neuropilin 1 is a 923-amino-acid membrane-bound coreceptor belonging to the neuropilin family. It contains two CUB domains, two F5/8 type C domains, and a MAM domain. Neuropilin 1 forms a heterodimer with Neuropilin 2 (NRP2) and binds to plexin (PLXNB1) to form semaphorin receptors.
It is highly expressed in the nervous system and plays roles in cardiovascular development, angiogenesis, axon guidance, neuronal circuit formation, cell survival, neuronal migration, and organogenesis.
Neuropilin 1 functions as a receptor for both semaphorins and VEGF, regulating VEGF-induced angiogenesis. It may also be involved in advanced prostate carcinoma and breast cancer progression.
