Target Information
The Nuclear receptor related 1 protein (Nurr1), also known as NR4A2 (nuclear receptor subfamily 4, group A, member 2), is a transcription factor encoded by the NR4A2 gene in humans.
Nurr1 plays a key role in maintaining the dopaminergic system of the brain. Mutations in this gene are associated with dopaminergic dysfunction-related disorders such as Parkinson’s disease, schizophrenia, and manic depression. Misregulation may also be linked to rheumatoid arthritis.
Four transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified, with potential additional splice variants yet to be fully characterized.
