Product Specific Information
- Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 min at room temperature.
- Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 min at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Target Information
Thymidine Phosphorylase (TP), also known as platelet-derived endothelial cell growth factor (PD-ECGF) or gliostatin, catalyzes the reversible phosphorolytic cleavage of thymidine and deoxyuridine to their corresponding bases and 2-deoxyribose-1-phosphate in the presence of inorganic orthophosphate.
It is chemotactic and mitogenic for endothelial cells and acts as a non-heparin-binding angiogenic factor present in platelets.
Additionally, it plays a role in the conversion of fluoropyrimidines, cytotoxic agents used in cancer treatment, into active cytotoxic metabolites.
