TSEN34는 tRNA splicing endonuclease의 촉매 서브유닛을 암호화하며, precursor tRNA에서 인트론을 제거하는 반응을 촉진합니다. 이 엔도뉴클레아제 복합체는 pre-mRNA 3' 말단 처리 인자와도 연관되어 있습니다. TSEN34 유전자의 돌연변이는 신경학적 질환인 pontocerebellar hypoplasia type 2를 유발할 수 있습니다. 동일한 단백질을 암호화하는 여러 대체 스플라이싱 변이가 보고되었습니다.
