Target Information
CD19 is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily with two Ig-like domains. It is expressed on 100% of peripheral B cells, as defined by kappa or lambda light chain expression. CD19 can also be expressed on certain myeloid leukemia cells, particularly those of monocytic lineage.
CD19 functions as a signal-amplifying coreceptor for the B cell receptor (BCR), lowering the threshold for antigen receptor-dependent stimulation. It can also signal independently of BCR co-ligation, serving as a central regulatory component for multiple signaling pathways. Mutations in the CD19 gene may lead to hypogammaglobulinemia, while overexpression can cause B cell hyperactivity.
