Product Specific Information
- Reacts with human and rat p38 alpha, beta, and gamma (100% homologous).
- Positive controls: HEK 293 cells ± UV irradiation, PC12 cells ± sorbitol treatment.
- Purified by sequential epitope-specific chromatography.
- Negatively preadsorbed using non-phosphopeptide to remove non-specific antibodies.
- Final product generated by affinity purification using p38 peptide phosphorylated at Thr180 and Tyr182.
- Sufficient for approximately 10 mini-blots.
Target Information
MAPK14 (p38 alpha) is a stress-activated protein kinase regulating cellular responses to stress and inflammation.
Activation occurs via dual phosphorylation of Thr-Gly-Tyr motifs.
There are four isoforms of p38 MAPK differing in tissue expression and interaction with upstream activators.
Upon stimulation (e.g., TNF, IL-1, heat shock), MAPK kinase-3/6 phosphorylate Thr180 and Tyr182 residues of p38 MAPK.
Activated phospho-p38 MAPK phosphorylates transcription factors such as ATF-2, CHOP-1, and MEF-2.
