Product Specific Information

The RPA-T4 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD4, a 59 kDa cell surface receptor expressed by thymocytes, T-helper cells, and monocytes. CD4 functions as a receptor for HIV, and RPA-T4 blocks HIV binding and mixed lymphocyte reaction.
RPA-T4 recognizes a different epitope from OKT4 and does not cross-block.

Applications Reported: Flow cytometric analysis
Applications Tested: Pre-diluted and validated for flow cytometry using human peripheral blood cells at 5 µL (0.25 µg)/test.

Brilliant Ultra Violet™ 805 (BUV805):

  • Tandem dye emitting at 797 nm
  • Designed for cytometers with UV (355 nm) laser
  • Excitation: 355 nm; Emission: 797 nm; Laser: Ultraviolet

Buffer Recommendations:
When using multiple polymer dye-conjugated antibodies, use Super Bright Complete Staining Buffer (SB-4401) or Brilliant Stain Buffer (00-4409-75) to reduce non-specific interactions.

Fixation & Storage:
Samples may be stored in IC Fixation Buffer (00-8222) or 1-step Fix/Lyse Solution (00-5333) for up to 3 days at 4°C in the dark.
BUV805 is compatible with short-term methanol fixation (<1 hour).

Light Sensitivity:
Protect vial and stained samples from light to prevent photo-induced oxidation.

Target Information

CD4 antigen is a co-receptor for HIV and interacts with MHC class II molecules. It is primarily expressed in T-helper cells and other immune cells such as monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells.
At the tissue level, CD4 is found in thymus, lymph nodes, tonsils, spleen, and specific regions of the brain and gut.
CD4 contributes to T-cell activation and may mediate neuronal damage in infectious or immune-mediated CNS diseases.
Multiple alternatively spliced transcripts are known (RefSeq, July 2017).
