Complexin/synaphin 유전자 패밀리에서 암호화된 단백질은 시냅스 소포의 방출(exocytosis)에 관여하는 세포질 단백질입니다.
이 단백질은 SNAP 수용체 복합체(SNARE complex)의 구성 요소인 syntaxin에 결합하여, 복합체를 해체하고 신경전달물질의 방출을 유도합니다.
이 유전자는 동일한 단백질을 암호화하는 두 가지 전사 변이를 가집니다.
