TAS2R46는 쓴맛 인지에 관여하는 수용체로, gustducin과 연계되어 있음. 이 수용체는 위장 내 화학 성분 감지에 역할을 할 수 있으며, α-gustducin 활성화, PLC-β2 활성화, TRPM5 개폐를 매개할 수 있음. 혀의 미각 수용체 세포 중 gustducin-양성 세포에서 발현되며, 대부분의 미각 세포는 제한된 수의 쓴맛 화합물에 의해 활성화됨.
