Target Information
The claudin superfamily consists of many structurally related proteins in humans, including claudin 1 through 18. These proteins are essential components of tight junctions involved in paracellular transport. Claudins are found in epithelial and endothelial cells across all tight junction-bearing tissues and form tight junction strands through four transmembrane domains and two extracellular loops. Claudin-11 is an oligodendrocyte-specific protein expressed in the tight junctions of Sertoli cells and myelin sheaths in mice.
