SERPINB5 (Maspin) is a tumor suppressor protein that inhibits the growth, invasion, and metastasis of mammary tumors. Unlike active serpins, it does not undergo the conformational transition from S (stressed) to R (relaxed) and therefore lacks serine protease inhibitory activity.
