Stock solutions can be prepared at 50–100 µg/mL in appropriate sterile buffer. Carrier proteins such as 0.2–1% BSA or HSA can be added when preparing the stock solution.

Target Information

IL-13 is an immunoregulatory cytokine produced primarily by activated Th2 cells. It regulates inflammatory and immune responses by down-regulating macrophage activity, inhibiting pro-inflammatory cytokine and chemokine production. IL-13 plays a role in allergen-induced asthma through mechanisms independent of IgE and eosinophils.

Additionally, IL-13 regulates B cell maturation and differentiation, up-regulates CD23 and MHC class II expression, and promotes IgE isotype switching. Structurally, IL-13 resembles IL-3, IL-4, IL-5, and GM-CSF. The genes encoding IL-13, IL3, IL5, IL4, and CSF2 form a cytokine gene cluster on chromosome 5q, with IL-13 located near IL4.
