Target Information
The SPARC gene encodes a cysteine-rich acidic matrix-associated protein. This protein is required for bone collagen calcification and is involved in extracellular matrix synthesis and modulation of cell shape. It has been linked to both tumor suppression and metastasis due to its role in cellular morphology and invasion. Three transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
