Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporter superfamily. ABC proteins transport various molecules across extra- and intra-cellular membranes and are divided into seven subfamilies (ABC1, MDR/TAP, MRP, ALD, OABP, GCN20, White).
This protein, also known as RNase L inhibitor, blocks the activity of ribonuclease L, which inhibits protein synthesis in the 2-5A/RNase L antiviral pathway. Two transcript variants encoding the same protein have been identified.
