Target Information
Cysteine string protein alpha (CSPα) is a synaptic vesicle protein containing a DNA-J domain characteristic of Hsp40 chaperones. These membrane-bound proteins are primarily associated with nerve endings and synaptic vesicles in the brain. CSPα plays an essential role in presynaptic function and may be involved in calcium-dependent neurotransmitter release. It acts as a presynaptic chaperone to maintain synaptic function.
