HLA-DMA는 HLA class II alpha chain paralogues에 속하며, alpha (DMA)와 beta (DMB) 체인으로 구성된 이형이량체입니다. 세포 내 소포에 위치하며, MHC class II 분자의 펩타이드 로딩 과정에서 CLIP 분자를 해리시키는 데 중심적 역할을 합니다.
이 단백질은 항원 제시 세포(APC: B 세포, 수지상세포, 대식세포)에 발현됩니다. Alpha chain은 약 33–35 kDa이며, 5개의 엑손으로 구성되어 있습니다.
