Target Information
B7-H4 (also known as B7x or VTCN1) is a costimulatory protein acting as a negative regulator of T-cell–mediated immunity. It delivers inhibitory signals to T-cells, preventing proliferation, cell cycle progression, and interleukin-2 production.
B7-H4 is expressed on activated T-cells, B-cells, monocytes, and dendritic cells. Aberrant expression has been linked to lung, breast, and ovarian cancers.
As an immunoinhibitory membrane protein, B7-H4 modulates cellular and humoral immune responses and may serve as a biomarker for early detection of ovarian cancer and renal cell carcinoma (RCC).
