Target Information
The Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome (WAS) family of proteins share a similar domain structure and are involved in transducing signals from cell surface receptors to the actin cytoskeleton. These proteins interact with multiple partners and are regulated by various stimuli. N-WASP (encoded by the WASL gene) is a homolog of WAS protein, ubiquitously expressed with the highest levels in neural tissues. It binds directly to Cdc42 and induces the formation of long actin microspikes.
