Target Information
DYNLT1 acts as a non-catalytic accessory component of the cytoplasmic dynein 1 complex, contributing to the linkage between dynein, cargos, and adapter proteins that regulate dynein function.
Cytoplasmic dynein 1 functions as a motor for intracellular retrograde transport of vesicles and organelles along microtubules.
DYNLT1 is involved in:
- Apical cargo transport such as rhodopsin-bearing vesicles in polarized epithelia
- Intracellular targeting of D-type retrovirus gag polyproteins
- Neuronal morphogenesis and regulation of the actin cytoskeleton via Rac1 activity
- Regulation of neurogenesis by inhibiting neuron formation from precursor cells during cortical development
