Product Specific Information

The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using an epitope-specific immunogen. The purity is >95% as determined by SDS-PAGE.


Target Information

Cathepsin C, also known as dipeptidyl aminopeptidase I (DPPI), is a tetrameric lysosomal cysteine peptidase belonging to the papain family. It participates in intracellular protein degradation and processing of protein precursors, contributing to cell growth, neuraminidase activation, and platelet factor XIII activation.
Cathepsin C shares homology with other lysosomal cysteine proteinases such as cathepsin B, H, and L. It sequentially removes dipeptides from the amino terminus and requires chloride ions and thiols for full enzymatic activity.
The protein is expressed in various tissues, with highest levels in spleen, kidney, cytotoxic lymphocytes, and myeloid cells, localizing to the secretory granule compartment. It is synthesized as a proenzyme and processed into two chains that form the mature enzyme.
