Target Information
Normal sera are non-immune serum samples from goat, human, mouse, rabbit, and other species that contain the usual complement of serum proteins, including immunoglobulins present in healthy animals.
Normal serum provides sufficient endogenous proteins to block nonspecific binding sites on fixed samples or assay substrates. When used as an antibody diluent, it maintains a native chemical environment for antibody function without introducing foreign proteins.
Normal serum is widely used for blocking or saturating nonspecific interactions in immunodetection methods such as immunohistochemistry (IHC). It is also useful as a control in antibody purification testing.
