Mouse anti-bovine CD8 antibody, clone CC63, reacts with the bovine CD8 antigen expressed by a subset of T lymphocytes.
Target Information
Cluster of differentiation 8 (CD8) is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein of the immunoglobulin family involved in signal transduction, T cell differentiation, and activation. CD8 is predominantly expressed on T cells as a disulfide-linked heterodimer of CD8α and CD8β, functioning as a co-receptor with T cell receptor (TCR) for MHC class I molecules. It also exists as CD8α homodimers on subsets of T cells, NK cells, monocytes, and dendritic cells. Engagement of MHC-I/peptide complexes triggers Lck recruitment, leading to lymphokine production, motility, and cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL) activation. Activated CTLs play a crucial role in pathogen and tumor cell clearance. Differentiation of naive CD8+ T cells into CTLs is enhanced by IL-2, IL-12, and TGF-β1.
