Target Information

Priliximab is a biosimilar antibody that targets CD4.
The CD4 antigen is involved in the recognition of MHC class II molecules and acts as a co-receptor for HIV.
CD4 is mainly expressed in a subset of T-lymphocytes (T helper cells) and may also be present in monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells.
At the tissue level, CD4 expression is found in thymus, lymph nodes, tonsils, spleen, and certain regions of the brain and gut.
CD4 functions to initiate or enhance T-cell activation through association with the T-cell receptor complex and Lck kinase.
It may also mediate neuronal damage in infectious or immune-mediated CNS diseases.
Multiple alternatively spliced transcripts have been identified (RefSeq, July 2017).
