Target Information
CD20 is a non-glycosylated surface phosphoprotein with a molecular weight of 33–37 kDa depending on phosphorylation. It is expressed on mature and most malignant B cells, a subset of T lymphocytes, and follicular dendritic cells.
CD20 regulates transmembrane calcium conductance, cell cycle progression, and B-cell proliferation. It associates with lipid rafts and interacts dynamically with the B-cell antigen receptor (BCR) upon activation.
CD20 serves as a key target for antibody-mediated B-cell depletion therapies, as it remains stably expressed on the cell surface without internalization or shedding after monoclonal antibody treatment.
Diseases associated with CD20 dysfunction include MS4A1-related common variable immune deficiency.
