• The N-terminus shows similarity to the human cAMP-dependent protein kinase A (PKA) type II alpha regulatory subunit (RIIa).
• The C-terminus contains an IQ calmodulin-binding motif.
• The central region includes carbohydrate-binding motifs, suggesting a role in cell-cell adhesion.
  Originally identified for its involvement in sperm binding to the zona pellucida of the oocyte, recent studies indicate additional roles in immune cell migration and metastasis.
  A retrotransposed pseudogene is present on chromosome 10q22.
