Target Information
CKIP1 was identified through a yeast-two hybrid screening as a protein that interacts selectively with one catalytic subunit of the casein kinase 2 complex.
It is a pleckstrin homology domain-containing protein localized in the nucleus and plasma membrane, interacting with CK2α but not CK2α’.
CKIP1 plays roles in muscle differentiation, cell morphology regulation, and actin cytoskeleton organization.
It also interacts with ATM, recruiting nuclear ATM to the plasma membrane, and may regulate ATM function.
Additionally, CKIP1 forms a complex with AKT, leading to down-regulation of PI3K/AKT signaling and suppression of tumor growth in vivo.
