Target Information
Serine/threonine protein kinase essential for release from glucose repression. Catalytic subunit of the AMP-activated protein kinase complex (SNF1 kinase complex, Snf1c), a central regulator of cellular energy homeostasis. In response to decreased intracellular ATP, it activates energy-producing pathways and inhibits energy-consuming processes.
The complex phosphorylates histone H3 (H3S10ph), promoting H3K14ac formation and transcriptional activation via TBP recruitment. It also negatively regulates the HOG1 MAPK pathway during ER stress response and unfolded protein response (UPR).
Under nutrient or energy depletion, it phosphorylates and activates PAS kinase PSK1, leading to TORC1 inhibition. SNF1 also phosphorylates adenylate cyclase CYR1, negatively regulating the protein kinase A pathway, and regulates transcriptional activator CAT8.
