This antibody detects endogenous levels of total GDF11 protein.
Target Information
GDF11 is a member of the bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) family and the TGF-beta superfamily. These proteins contain a polybasic proteolytic processing site that is cleaved to produce a mature protein with seven conserved cysteine residues. Members of this family regulate cell growth and differentiation in both embryonic and adult tissues. Studies in mice and Xenopus suggest involvement in mesodermal formation and neurogenesis during embryonic development.
