Product Specific Information
This antibody detects CD34 in human, Cynomolgus monkey, and Rhesus monkey samples.
IHC was performed using methanol-fixed cells. Do not perform antigen retrieval prior to IHC staining.
This target has a predicted molecular weight of 40 kDa.
Target Information
CD34 is a highly glycosylated monomeric surface protein (111–115 kDa) expressed on many stem cell populations. It serves as a stem cell marker, with reversible expression on human hematopoietic stem cells. CD34 may function as a receptor involved in endocytosis and regulation of adhesion, differentiation, and proliferation of stem cells and progenitors.
It may act as an adhesion molecule facilitating binding of stem cells to bone marrow matrix or stromal cells and may serve as a scaffold for glycans that interact with lectins.
The intracellular domain is phosphorylated by activated protein kinase C, suggesting a role in signal transduction.
Diseases associated with CD34 dysfunction include dermatofibrosarcoma and neurofibroma.
