Target Information

The T-box (Tbx) motif is present in a family of genes whose structural features and expression patterns support their involvement in developmental gene regulation. The Tbx gene family is largely conserved throughout metazoan evolution and codes for putative transcription factors sharing a uniquely defining DNA-binding domain. Tbx genes are developmental regulators with over 20 members identified in invertebrates and vertebrates. Mutations in Tbx genes are associated with several human diseases. Functional mechanisms of Tbx products have been primarily studied through the prototypical T/Brachyury transcription activator.
