Target Information
UBE2T is involved in the covalent conjugation of ubiquitin to proteins, regulating diverse cellular pathways. Ubiquitin is transferred to target proteins via the coordinated action of E1 (activating enzyme), E2 (conjugating enzyme such as UBE2T), and E3 (ligase).
UBE2T catalyzes the covalent attachment of ubiquitin to protein substrates, mediates monoubiquitination, and participates in mitomycin-C (MMC)-induced DNA repair. It also catalyzes monoubiquitination of FANCD2, a key step in the DNA damage pathway.
Defects in the UBE2T gene have been associated with Fanconi anemia of complementation group T.
