Target Information
This gene belongs to the neurotrophin family, which regulates the survival and differentiation of mammalian neurons. Its expression is ubiquitous and less influenced by environmental factors. Unlike other neurotrophins such as nerve growth factor, brain-derived neurotrophic factor, and neurotrophin 3—whose knockouts are lethal in early development—NTF5-deficient mice show only minor cellular deficits and develop normally to adulthood.
