Target Information

SLIT and NTRK-like family 6 (Slitrk6) is a member of a protein family consisting of six homologous transmembrane proteins (Slitrk1–6). These share two conserved leucine-rich repeat domains in the extracellular region and exhibit significant homology to Slit, a secreted axonal growth-controlling protein. They also show homology to trk neurotrophin receptors in their intracellular domains.
Expression of Slitrk proteins is largely restricted to neural and brain tumor tissues, with variable expression among family members. Slitrk6 expression has been observed in tongue, lung, gastrointestinal tract, and pancreas. Overexpression of Slitrk6 inhibits neurite outgrowth in cultured neurons, suggesting a role in neurite outgrowth regulation. At least two isoforms of Slitrk6 are known to exist.
