Target Information
CD79a is a disulfide-linked heterodimer that includes the B29 (CD79b) polypeptide. It functions as part of the B lymphocyte antigen receptor complex, associating with Ig-alpha and Ig-beta—essential components for B-cell receptor expression and function. CD79a is expressed from the pre-B cell stage through the plasma cell stage, where it becomes an intracellular component. It is found in most acute leukemias of precursor B cell type, B cell lines, B cell lymphomas, and some myelomas, but not in myeloid or T cell lines. Diseases associated with CD79a include Agammaglobulinemia 3 and Non-Bruton type Agammaglobulinemia.
