BEST3는 BEST1, BEST2, BEST4와 함께 베스트로핀(anion channel) 단백질 패밀리에 속합니다. 이들은 막관통(transmembrane) 단백질로, 높은 방향족 잔기 함량을 가지며, 불변의 arg-phe-pro (RFP) 모티프를 포함합니다. 베스트로핀 유전자는 유사한 엑손 구조를 가지며, 8개의 RFP-TM 도메인 코딩 엑손과 보존된 엑손-인트론 경계를 공유합니다. 각 유전자는 고유한 3' 말단을 가집니다.
