Target Information
Anaplastic Lymphoma Receptor Tyrosine Kinase (ALK) belongs to the insulin receptor superfamily and plays a vital role in brain development. Mutations, rearrangements, and amplifications in the ALK gene are associated with various tumors, including anaplastic large cell lymphoma, neuroblastoma, and non-small cell lung cancer.
Chromosomal rearrangement often results in a fusion gene combining ALK and nucleophosmin (NPM), producing an oncogenic NPM-ALK fusion protein.
ALK is a receptor protein-tyrosine kinase with transmembrane and extracellular domains, showing high sequence similarity to LTK. It is crucial for neuronal development and function in the nervous system.
