Target Information
KappaB ras-1 (kappa-B-ras-1) and kappaB-ras-2 are small Ras-like GTPases that associate with Ikappa-B, an inhibitor of the transcription factor NF-kappa-B.
Ikappa-B exists in two homologous forms, Ikappa-B-alpha and Ikappa-B-beta.
Ikappa-B-beta contains a unique 47-amino acid region within its ankyrin domain.
Inactive Ikappa-B-alpha–NF-kappa-B complexes can shuttle between the nucleus and cytoplasm, while Ikappa-B-beta–NF-kappa-B complexes remain cytoplasmic.
KappaB-ras proteins preferentially bind to the Ikappa-B-beta form, modulating its localization and degradation rate.
