ZFP91는 zinc finger 단백질 계열에 속하며, C2H2 타입 도메인을 포함하는 핵산 결합 단백질입니다. 이 유전자는 단독 전사체(monocistronic transcript)와 ZFP91 및 CNTF 서열이 함께 전사된 형태(co-transcribed variant)를 생성합니다. 두 형태는 서로 다른 isoform을 암호화하며, ZFP91과 CNTF의 공동 전사는 마우스에서도 관찰됩니다.
