Target Information
Urotensin II is an active cyclic heptapeptide conserved from lamprey to human. It functions as a vasoconstrictor and is primarily expressed in brain tissue. Despite the name similarity, UTS2 is not homologous to urocortin, which belongs to the sauvagine/corticotropin releasing factor/urotensin I family. The proprotein undergoes cleavage to form the mature peptide.
